Why Resolve?

We believe that every child has the right to grow up in a secure and loving environment, enabling them to achieve their full potential.

Rigorous assessment with expert support

All assessments are undertaken and overseen by a qualified Social Worker. Our assessments are consistent with Working Together to Safeguard Children 2020 and incorporate the guidance originally published in The Framework for the Assessment of Children in Need and Their Families (2000). This provides the principles and parameters of effective good quality assessment. Assessments are evidence based, focus on the needs of, and risks to children; develop clear analysis; focus on measurable outcomes and are carried out in a timely manner.

Our Social Workers are also trained in using ‘PAMs’ and ‘Parent Assess’ assessment tools.
At Resolve we use an evidence-based approach to assessment, focusing on the planning of interventions, with an emphasis on child focused measurable outcomes. Assessments are holistic in nature, with a consideration of the child’s developmental stage, the parent’s capacities to meet the needs of their children and the wider family and environmental context. There is recognition that all these factors can impact upon the child and parenting capacity, and the child always remains at the centre.

Safeguarding children and families

The safety of the children in our care is paramount. Our residential parenting assessments provide an exceptional and unparalleled level of safeguarding for children whilst assessments of a parent’s capacity to provide full-time, care are made.

The level of direct observation by the highly experienced assessment team and the indirect observation via CCTV allows a high level of risk to be managed safely, for example, for families where non-accidental injuries may have occurred, or where the risk of immediate harm to the child is high.

The level of monitoring and supervision of a child is variable depending on the needs of the family and is agreed by all parties involved prior to any changes during the assessment.

We work flexibly and creatively with families, to minimise intrusion whilst ensuring safeguarding and informing the assessment. Families are provided with robust support and feedback during their assessment, which varies depending on their specific needs and abilities.
